Hello! Happy Hallow’s Eve. I’ve been working on this mini-comic, Ghost Stories, for a couple months between other stuff, and I’m happy to finally be posting it near Halloween. If you’d live in Philadelphia, you can buy a physical at Atomic City Comics if you’d like (starting in a week or so)! Otherwise, if you would like a copy, message or email me and I can mail you one for $5 plus shipping. The mini-comic is 4″ x 6″ with 13 pages.

I hope you enjoy reading this short story as much as I enjoyed writing and drawing it.

i’ve seen a vast number of redditors-turned-tumblrs on here express this exact realization:

“i can say whatever i want on here and i don’t have to deal with a bunch of assholes downvoting me! i can like/do/be whatever i want on my own personal blog!”

and like. idk man. it’s so cool that people are discovering this for themselves and finding joy, but it’s also frustrating to me because this is how the internet should be. ppl expressing themselves.

it also feels like ppl have shit-talked/heard bad things about this site for so long that they are genuinely surprised when tumblr is fun to use.

genuinely if any social media you are using is making you feel bad, stop using it. this should be fun.

and if tumblr gets bad, block and unfollow the toxic people. go follow some more cat blogs or something

oh my god this New Yorker article about the Titan holy fucking shit fuck???

Some notes: 1. the electrical system was designed by engineering undergrads who were working as interns. 2. because it is illegal to take passengers on an unclassed experimental submersible, they called the passengers ā€œmission specialistsā€ & instead of buying tickets they made donations. 3. the satellite beacon was held onto the outside of the sub with zip ties. 4. when Lochridge (the whistleblower) quit, Stockton Rush asked HIS FINANCE DIRECTOR if she wanted to be the pilot and she was like ā€œsir I am an accountantā€ and the experience of having her boss ask his accountant to be the pilot made her so freaked out that she ALSO quit the company 5. the carbon fiber used to make the hull was bought from a deep discount from Boeing because it was past its expiry date for use in airplanes

as a kid I had this little plastic toy rifle I found on the side of a road. for definitely good reason, my mom didn’t like the idea of me having projectiles for it, so I just had a pretty harmless toy gun that made a snapping click sound when you pulled the trigger

but one day, I broke the flimsy plastic barrel and there was a metal rod inside that moved with the spring. and the spring was pretty strong.

which meant that what I now had was effectively a pilebunker/livestock bolt gun, and I proceeded to use it to punch little holes in wooden structures until my parents finally figured out where they were coming from and how blind they’d been to the danger

I remember looking at it and getting dizzy with power thinking “if it can destroy wood… can it destroy a person…?” and then discarding that train of thought to go punch holes in a fence or something. but it could’ve been so much worse

Disgust has absolutely no ethical weight. If you are basing your ethical positions on the emotion of disgust you should stop, it is entirely unjustified and leads to a huge amount of harm.

Word for today: wisdom of repugnance

The logical fallacy that because something disgusts you it must be bad

this is probably the funniest example of a tumblr user simply not reading the post theyre reblogging at all
